White Sox Sign MacDougal
The Chicago White Sox have signed right-handed reliever Mike MacDougal to a 3-year, $6.45 million contract. For some reason, I always confuse MacDougal with Kyle Snyder.
Anyway, MacDougal actually has been a darned good pitcher when healthy. In 2006, he sported a 1.55 over 29 innings for the Royals and White Sox. For his career, MacDougal carries a 3.62 ERA over parts of six seasons. The downside is that he’s appeared in more than 30 games in just two of those seasons.
MacDougal turns 30 in March, so he’s not exactly old. Still, I’m not sure I’d want to guarantee three years to a guy who at that age never has made it through consecutive seasons healthy.
