What DO You Think Of The All-Star Game

by Tyler Knott Gregson on June 22nd, 2006

Recent comments by my good buddy Wes stirred some questions in my brain. What IS the point of the All-Star game, besides for the fans, and is the entertainment factor worth the obvious discrepancy it creates for the ‘Home field advantage’ during the World Series?

Wes mentioned, and I have to agree with him on this one, that if this “fun game” is going to play such a pivotal role in the World Series, (home-field advantage has more than proven to be a strong factor in the outcome of most series) should it be players and managers voting for the position players instead of the fans? Has the game turned into a Red Sox vs. Yankees rematch each year? Is it all an elaborate popularity contest? Well, the answer to all those, in my mind, is Yes. That, is too bad.

So, what should change? What should go? How can we make the All-Star game better and more true to the game. Sound off on this one, cause I really am curious.
