Wells & Francona Square Off
I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m a proud member of Red Sox Nation, I won’t hide the fact, or even cloud it over. Today’s news, therefore, comes as a punch to the gut. It seems there’s already squabbling in the Nation and this time its between David Wells and Manager Terry Francona.
Apparently, the two shared a “private” conversation concerning the starting rotation for this season as Wells was concerned that Josh Beckett wasn’t the No. 1 starter. This conversation came right after Wells originally requested a trade, then took back his request later on. Needless to say, the “private” conversation didn’t stay that way long after Francona reportedly discussed the details publicly. To say there’s some uneasiness in the ranks wouldn’t be a stretch.
I’m not getting down yet though, and neither should the rest of you “Red Sox Idiots.” We’ve got a long season ahead of us, lets see where it takes us.
