Video - Manny Ramirez Hits 500th Homer
On Saturday night, Manny Ramirez hit his 500th career homer against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Ramirez, the star outfielder for the Boston Red Sox, becomes the 24th player in history to reach the milestone.
Against right-hander Chad Bradford, Ramirez hammered the first pitch and posed for what he knew was his 500th dinger. To go along with the homers, Ramirez also has 2268 hits, 1,639 RBIs, 1,375 runs scored and, perhaps most impressive, a .312 batting average. That’s the fourth highest batting average in baseball history for a player with 500 homers.
The Red Sox also got the win against the Orioles 6-3 to improve their record to 34-24. Boston is second in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
