Bonds Pleads Not Guilty

All-time home run leader Barry Bonds has entered a plea of not guilty to four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice. We haven’t even gotten to the ugly part yet and I already hate this story…

Ten Sports Figures of 2007

Andrew at Defensive Indifference lists the 10 sports figures he blogged about most in 2007, as requested by the incomparable Jamie Mottram. As I did last year, I’m again participating in this project (thanks, Jamie!). Following Andrew’s lead, here is my list, in alphabetical order:

Barry Bonds. His stories pretty much write themselves.
Miguel Cabrera. Anyone who […]

Linkage: NL West Edition

Still in desk-clearing mode. Back to regular columns soon…

Jim at AZ Snakepit transforms a couple Diamondbacks into South Park characters.
El Lefty Malo talks about Barry Bonds.
Mark at Bad Altitude complains that Troy Tulowitzki should have won the NL Gold Glove at shortstop over Philadelphia’s Jimmy […]

AFL Prospects

Hard to find stuff that isn’t about A-Rod or Barry Bonds these days (I just realized that “indicted” and “inducted” share all but one letter — yeah, I’m real quick that way), but here’s something kind of fun: Baseball America has released its list of Top 20 prospects from the Arizona Fall League in ‘07.
Cameron […]

Bonds, a Giant No More

The San Francisco Giants will not bring back Barry Bonds back in 2008. Now that he’s passed Hank Aaron as the all-time home run leader, and given that the Giants desperately need to rebuild, this can’t come as much of a surprise to anyone.

Glavine Wins #300

Another milestone? Really. It’s becoming almost cliche.
First Alex Rodriguez hits his 500th homer, then Barry Bonds hits his 755th, now Tom Glavine wins his 300th game. The veteran left-hander beat the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday evening to reach his milestone.
As impressive as Glavine’s accomplishment is (and it certainly is), what blows my […]

Bonds Ties Aaron, A Nation Yawns

Barry Bonds hit career home run #755 off Padres right-hander Clay Hensley in the first inning at Petco Park in San Diego on Saturday night. One more and we can stop hearing about it.
