Our Offensive Consistency Is Consistently Offensive

by Geoff Young on November 22nd, 2006

I’m out this week visiting family for Thanksgiving. I hope there will be some good free agent signings and trades to talk about when I return. Meantime, here’s a little something you might enjoy…

If it seems like your team had trouble scoring runs consistently in 2006, you may not be imagining things. That’s the conclusion Sal Baxamusa reaches in an article at Hardball Times.

I would do a tremendous disservice to Baxamusa’s work by trying to walk you through his methods. By-passing methods and cutting directly to results, we see that the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and Minnesota Twins were the biggest “feast or famine” type teams in 2006.

But don’t take my word for it. Read the Hardball Times article, think about it, and then decide for yourself whether this approach makes sense.
