MLB Takes 2-0 Lead Over Japan
Where pitching dominated in the first game between MLB and Nippon Professional Baseball, hitting was the order of the day in Game 2 of their five-game series. The result, however, was the same, as MLB won, 8-6, in front of more than 39,000 fans.
Ryan Howard and Lyle Overbay homered, with Andruw Jones adding two hits, as MLB jumped out to a 7-4 lead after three innings. The pitching eventually settled down later, with Brian Fuentes retiring the side in order in the ninth to seal the victory.
For Japan, catcher Tomoya Satozaki was the offensive star, collecting two hits, including a two-run homer. Unfortunately, pitcher Kentaro Nishimura couldn’t silence MLB bats and by the time the bullpen came to the rescue (allowing just 1 run over 6 2/3 innings), the damage had already been done.
The two teams meet up again Sunday morning at 1:30 a.m. PT.

Kurt, thanks for the note and I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog. Anything I can do to help ease the pain until spring. :-)
