Marquis Grissom Calls It Quits
It’s a Cubs day today it seems. First on the Cubs docket is the announcement of outfielder Marquis Grissom’s retirement. That’s right, after 17 seasons in baseball, Grissom is finally hanging up his cleats.
He called it a “fun ride,” looking back on the 17 seasons he spent in pro-baseball; the decision to bid adieu to this great game came after being a non-roster invitee to Chicago Cubs camp. His retiring now opens the door for Angel Pagan to make the team. Out with the old, in with the new.
Grissom will be missed, that is for sure, he is one of only 7 players in the history of the game with 2,000 hits, 200 home runs and 400 stolen bases. Farewell Marquis, we’ll miss you!
