Indians Sign Borowski
The Cleveland Indians have signed right-handed reliever Joe Borowski to a 1-year deal worth $4.25 million. Borowski saved 36 games for the Florida Marlins in 2006, which was the first time since 2003 he’d been healthy enough to pitch more than 50 innings. Coincidentally, Borowski saved more than 30 games that year as well.
There’s plenty of risk with Borowski, who turns 36 in May. Then again, it’s only a 1-year contract. If it doesn’t work out for the Indians, they can try something else in 2008.
