Grimsley Handed 50 Game Suspension

by Tyler Knott Gregson on June 13th, 2006

So lets get this straight here, so no one is confused. The same number of games suspension that was handed to Delmon Young for nearly taking the head off of an umpire, is now being handed to a guy for taking steroids?? I don’t know why, or even how to completely verbalize it, but doesn’t that just seem a bit, well, Odd.

That’s right, Jason Grimsley was given a 50 game suspension from baseball and as such became the first Major League Baseball player to ever be punished under the new set of guidelines. The suspension is without pay.

Apparently Grims hasn’t decided whether or not he’ll even return to baseball, and really, can you blame him? If he doesn’t, the suspension is obviously null, but what’s going to happen with the rest of his contract money is still up in the air a bit.
