Could The Steroid Probe Affect Hall Of Fame Hopes?

by Tyler Knott Gregson on April 1st, 2006

You know something, that question is one that I don’t think has been asked enough. With all the hullabaloo surrounding the actual launching of the probe, and what it could find in the case of many Active players, no one is really asking how it will affect the inactive ones.

Or the ones that, pre-probe, were shoe-ins for the Hall of Fame. What about McGwire? What about Canseco? What about Palmeiro or Sosa? As noted in an article I just read, but just plain common sense tells you the same thing, the ballots from 2006-2015 are going to be littered with players whose great feats are going to be just a tad questionable.

Bottom line is it comes down to a judgment call on the voters; you know Pete Rose is gonna be even more peeved if all these guys get in despite the dirt that’s brought up on them. We’ll see I guess.
