Out here in San Diego, at Petco Park, Hancock was honored with a moment of silence before the start of Sunday’s game against the Dodgers. For those of […]

Kuhn Dies at 80

Former MLB commissioner Bowie Kuhn died Thursday at age 80. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
I don’t have a strong recollection of Kuhn’s tenure (I was in high school when he vacated the office), but David Pinto at Baseball Musings shares his opinions on the matter.
One passage from the ESPN article stands […]

Ruhle Dies at 55

Former big-league pitcher Vern Ruhle has died at age 55. His best season came in 1980, while he was with the Houston Astros.
I’ll always remember that ‘80 Astros team, because they beat my childhood team — the Dodgers — in a 1-game playoff at the end of the season to win the NL West. Tommy […]

O’Neil Dies at 94

Negro League legend Buck O’Neil died Friday at age 94. MLB.com has a great article on the man so I’ll leave it to them and simply offer my condolences to the O’Neil family. His passion for the game was infectious and his spirit will live on as long as folks are still playing it.
