Fantasy Baseball Preview at Roster Magazine

The inaugural issue of Roster Magazine is now available. I contributed the fantasy baseball preview of the San Diego Padres, but don’t let that stop you from swinging by and having a look. ;-)
Some good stuff here. Glad I could be a part of it…

Fantasy Baseball: Would I Make This Deal?

Brock for Broglio has an interview up with Shawn Hoffman of Squawking Baseball. I’ll ‘fess up right away: before reading this interview, I’d never heard of Hoffman or his site, but I’ll be paying closer attention going forward.
Here’s some sage advice for the fantasy players out there:
With good trading partners, try to look for depth […]

Another Fantasy Draft Complete

I’ve finished up my second fantasy draft of the spring (my first is here). This is a 12-team AL-only Scoresheet league (we can protect up to two players that cross over to the NL) . I lost track of how many rounds we were drafting and shorted myself a bit in the pitching department. I’ll […]

Hardball Times 2007 Season Preview

Just a quick heads-up that The Hardball Times has published its first ever season preview book. Full disclosure: I contributed a (very short) chapter on the San Diego Padres. (What, you were expecting the Yankees?)
As always, THT has done a fantastic job, and I’m proud (and humbled) to be associated with this latest effort.

First Fantasy Draft of the Year Complete

The other day we talked about fantasy baseball. Well, I’ve just completed my first draft of the spring. I play some straight Rotisserie ball, but mostly I’m a Scoresheet Baseball hound. Scoresheet blends the best of fantasy ball with the old tabletop simulations.
I’ve been playing since ‘93, and I can’t get enough. The main appeal […]

Life Is Just a Fantasy

Summer breeze makes you feel alright
Neon lights shining brightly make your brain ignite
I think probably Aldo Nova was talking about something else, but this tune was big in the early ’80s, so we’ll go with it.
The other day I mentioned my first Rotisserie League team from 1984. Fantasy baseball has become a huge industry over […]

Memories of Strat

For whatever reason, I never played Strat-o-Matic baseball when I was a kid. I played All Star Baseball and Statis Pro Baseball (Bill Castro and Jerry Augustine made for a potent 1-2 punch in the ‘79 Brewers bullpen), but never Strat.
Chad Finn played the game, and he talks about it over at Baseball Analysts. One […]
