Cardinals Sign Springer
The St. Louis Cardinals have signed right-handed reliever Russ Springer to a 1-year, $1.75 million deal. This is what happens when you win the World Series. Instead of having to fork over obscene amounts of cash for Danys Baez, you can get a guy like Springer for a comparably reasonable price.
The 38-year-old Springer posted a 3.47 ERA in 59 2/3 for the Astros in 2006. He’s been around a while — Springer once was traded as part of a deal for Jim Abbott.
