Bonds Bombs Again
Number 2 is in the books officially for big Barry. He’s been walked a lot, struck out a lot, and flew out a lot, but he finally knocked in number 2 of the year this fine evening. He’s now one step closer, 4 home runs off, of tying Babe Ruth’s second place record.
Am I the only one that’s a little saddened by that? Granted, Ruth was a rabble rouser, a boozer, and probably a whole lot of other things, but doesn’t he, in a way, represent the game when alcohol was a performance (de)enhancing drug and the most controversial play was sliding into 2nd with your cleats up, way up?
Regardless, that time is gone, and while I wasn’t actually alive to experience it, I miss it.
