Billy Wagner Gets 300th Career Save

by Tyler Knott Gregson on July 5th, 2006

Kudos of the day goes to Billy Wagner…the Mets star pitched an “uneventful” 9th inning and got his career milestone.

It seems to me that in certain areas, pitching is getting a whole lot better, while in others, a whole lot worse.  I’ve been noticing a trend that starting pitchers aren’t doing quite as well as they used to, not completely Dominating like they used to, while closers and set up men are really shining.  I know there are exceptions to this, but that’s what I’ve been seeing lately.

Why is this?  Any thoughts?
