Alex Rodriguez Sits
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has a strained quadriceps and missed New York’s game on Tuesday. However, Rodriguez also would have likely missed the game even if he hadn’t suffered the injury. He was in Miami with his wife, who was giving birth.
Rodriguez plans to return to the Yankees on Thursday. It’s unknown whether he’ll play on Thursday or wait until the weekend. Without Rodriguez, the Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 on Tuesday.
Frank Thomas to the Athletics?
As we reported earlier in the week, Frank Thomas going back to the Oakland Athletics is a definite possibility. Thomas, who left Oakland to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays, was released by Toronto after starting the season struggling at the plate.
If Thomas is signed by the A’s, he’d play DH and would be placed in the middle of the lineup. Despite his slow start, Thomas has a history of getting better as the season wears on.
CC Sabathia Bounces Back
I guess it was foolish to worry about CC Sabathia. Sabathia bounced back in style on Tuesday with a vintage performance. Sabathia pitched six innings, allowed four hits, no runs and struck out 11 batters. Sabathia recorded his first win of the season and was able to lower his ERA to 10.12.
The Cleveland Indians ended crowning the Kansas City Royals 15-1. Casey Blake went 4-for-4 with six RBIs for the Indians.
