MLB Submitted the Revision of the Disabled List

From the seasons 2013 up until 2016, the number of players who have been added to the disabled list has been steadily growing. This might mean you punters out there are madly updating your fantasy rosters as you read this article. In fact, the list of players on the disabled list this year went up from last year. During the offseason, MLB revised the classic 15-day disabled list to a ten day one prompting the players to use it more than before. As per ESPN sports news reporter Jerry Crasnick, the increase of players on the disabled list reached up to approximately 12% which is quite a big percentage as compared to previous years.

Before the 10-day disabled list was implemented, many players who were injured were undecided as to whether they would use the disabled list because their team didn’t know how long the injured players would be off. With this, it would take some time before the team would actually use the disabled list. With the shorter time span, it seems like managers and players alike are happier because it makes it easier for them to put the players on the disabled list. It will also be faster for the players to recover after being put on the list because it will give the doctors a head start on taking care of the injury.
