Looking Back on 2007

Photo by Mayr, some rights reserved
Well, that was quick. Another year gone by already? Hey, I still can’t believe it’s not the ’90s.
Anywho, thanks to everyone who stopped by and participated here at Knuckle Curve during 2007. As a way of wrapping things up, so to speak, here’s a quick look at the most popular […]

Obligatory Tom Brady Post

I understand there was a football game last night. Heard about it from my imaginary friend. Conversation went a little like this:
IF: How ’bout Tom Brady?
Me: How ’bout him?
IF: Patriots could become the first team ever to finish with a 16-0 record; wouldn’t that be something?
Me: Sure.
IF: You want to see ‘em do it?
Me: Will […]

Is There Room for a Goose in Cooperstown?

I seem to be on a Hall of Fame kick lately. Maybe it’s because I actually visited the place this summer. Or maybe there’s not much else going on right now (seriously, don’t make me bust out some transaction haiku on the Darin Erstad and Miguel Olivo signings). Whatever the case, that’s where my head […]

When It Raines, It Pours

Dan McLaughlin has a nice article up at Hardball Times (full disclosure: I contribute to THT) on the Hall of Fame worthiness of Tim Raines. In it, Dan compares Raines to other great “tablesetters” — guys whose skills were best suited to the top of the order — throughout baseball history.
The most important finding […]

Hall of Fame: Who Do You Like in ‘08?

I’ve been meaning to say something about the Hall of Fame for a while. To help us out, Sean Forman has created nice little reports for batters and pitchers eligible in the current balloting.

If you could choose one player for the Hall of Fame in 2008, who would it be?

Bert Blyleven

Goose Gossage

Tim Raines

Alan Trammell

Andre Dawson

Don […]

Nine Holiday Wishes for Baseball

For your amusement, and mine…

More great games, fewer Congressional investigations.
A commissioner who isn’t one of the owners. Yeah, I know technically he isn’t one of the owners anymore, but he’s one of the owners.
Hall of Fame enshrinement for Bert Blyleven, Goose Gossage, and Tim Raines.
Enough with the Red Sox already. It was kinda cute the […]

Reds Ship Hamilton to Texas

The Cincinnati Reds have traded outfielder Josh Hamilton to the Texas Rangers for right-hander Edinson Volquez and left-hander Danny Herrera. Hamilton was one of the bigger surprises of the 2007 season, but apparently the Reds deemed him expendable. Hamilton’s power will play anywhere, and if he can stay healthy (and clean), he should put up […]

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed outfielder Gabe Kapler, who spent 2007 managing the Class-A Greenville Drive. Welcome back, G-Kap:
